Hello there!

Welcome to The Cosy Onion. This is me (above). I’m Izi, I’m 19 years of age and was born and live in England. I studied English Literature, Art and Psychology at college for two years and am now free as a bird, spending my spare time reading, creating pieces of artwork and writing to my heart’s content.

Reading has always been a passion of mine. I remember my Mum and I snuggling up in bed together when I was only a few years old, and we would lay and read a book. Dr. Seuss was a frequent visitor, along with sweet classics like Roald Dahl– though one of my personal favourites was (and remains to be) We’re Going On A Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen. We also managed to get through the first two Harry Potter books together when I was 7 or 8 (J.K. Rowling’s magic has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember). And that’s just a handful of the books that filled my childhood; I could go on for hours (but I won’t bore you).

So books have always been precious to me- though these days Mum and I can rarely agree on books, as our tastes are vastly different!

I’ve also always, always been into art. Drawing with crayons turned into drawing with pencils turned into drawing with felt tips turned into painting and inking and goodness knows what. I have the creative gene and it will always be a big part of who I am. I feel incredibly privileged that I am one of those people lucky enough to possess the ability to put pencil to paper and draw what I can see in my mind. I can’t imagine not being able to do so, yet take great pleasure in sharing my talent with others and inspiring people with my artwork.

Tea. Oh tea.
Mr Tea is one of my best friends in life. He accompanies me when I’m doing all of the above- and more yet. Tea will feature often in my posts, I expect, because he is always present somewhere in my day-to-day life. So please be patient with me, because my obsession with the thing is probably slightly excessive (yet delicious nevertheless).

So that’s pretty much me in a (slightly large) nutshell.
I would be delighted if you would take a look at some of my posts- navigate through them using the menu on the left (the most recent being towards the top) and if you like what you read then perhaps you’d be so kind as to follow me! Feel free to give me feedback on what I post or even better: send me book suggestions!- there’s nothing I love more than when someone recommends me a good book!

Thanks for reading,

The Cosy Onion

Two totally different but both equally favourites of mine right now are ‘Daddy Long Legs’ by Jean Webber and ‘The Night Circus’ by Erin Morgenstern. They are on the opposite ends of the spectrum in writing techniques but I couldn’t put either down while reading and rereading!
